Breylon A. Smith, MPA

Breylon is the founder and CEO of The Bridge Project. He’s passionate about mentoring and supporting young people - especially Black boys. Currently, Breylon develops national partnerships at Thrive Scholars. With more than a decade of experience in education and the nonprofit sector, Breylon started his career as Program Director of the Extended Day Program at Global Scholars Academy in Durham, NC; and then almost a decade at Higher Achievement, an education nonprofit that serves middle school youth in Washington, DC.

Breylon is also an entrepreneur, consultant, and more importantly a husband and father. He earned his bachelor of arts degree in middle grades education and a master's degree in public administration (MPA) from North Carolina Central University. He completed a certificate in nonprofit management from Duke University. He is also a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and a native of Youngstown, Ohio. Outside of his entrepreneurial endeavors and working, Breylon enjoys volunteering, sports, coffee shops, and exploring new places with delicious food.

 
 

R. Davis Dixon, PhD

Dr. R. Davis Dixon is co-founder of The Bridge Project. He is an assistant professor of developmental psychology at Howard University. Currently Dr. Dixon conducts research that explores how to create safe and welcoming school environments by affirming the identity and humanity of students of color. 

Previously Dr. Dixon was a senior associate for P-12 research at the Education Trust, a nonprofit, education civil rights organization. In this role, Dr. Dixon conducted primary and secondary research to inform discussion and debate among education decision-makers at the national, state, and local levels, ensuring that Ed Trust’s practice and policy work is driven by the most current education research. Dr. Dixon has presented at conferences across the nation on topics regarding minority and low-income student achievement. He has also published research findings on cultural identity for African-American students at an HBCU and issues of mattering and belonging for elementary students. Dr. Dixon completed his master’s and doctoral work in developmental psychology at Howard University and holds a bachelor’s in psychology from North Carolina Central University.

Carrington G. Moore, M.DIV.

Rev. Carrington Moore is co-founder of The Bridge Project. He has served as a thought leader across the country in the areas of leadership cultivation, workforce development, youth engagement and educational equity. Rev. Carrington has led collective impact initiatives across the greater Boston community dedicated to increasing college access, building sustainable vocational pathways, and creating equity within institutions and systems. 

Previously, Rev. Carrington served as the founding Director of Community Organizing at Embrace Boston. He is also the Assistant Pastor of Discipleship at Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Boston, Massachusetts. 

He earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree with a double major in political science and philosophy from Youngstown State University. He earned a Master of Divinity from Boston University School of Theology. Rev. Carrington is an ordained Baptist minister and a proud native of Youngstown, Ohio.
